eddie: Looks like a solid race for the final. Just the one error and...I count four people behind you! Cute pic in the IOF article.

Cristina: Two good EOC runs in a row = awesome!

Wyatt: Splits looked like you had a 2 minute error earlier on as well as the 90 seconds at 8? Route choice or something? Definitely looks like people were running faster - amazing that they were perhaps taking it easy in the qualifier...??

eddie: Wyatt, are you coming to Hammonds Rocks tomorrow?

Torino: Good run Sandra! I am glad you followed through with your tactics. It seems as if that terrain was really tricky and demanding (judging from other comments as well and how the Swiss fared in general).
In fact, I think you did have a successful week with no real big blunder or falling off the result list. The quality of all the women (many countries participated with 6 women each!) was really high and the times showed how close everybody was.
Good job :-)).

kissy: Way to keep your head together in a high-pressure situation. Great job!

szurcher: Yeah, I am happy with the performance. I made one mistake that I know about (nub 8) and I am certain I lost time in other places by being careful, but I am happy to have run consistently and not make some sort of bone head big mistake just because it was the final. Wyatt, it's true, a lot of people were running faster, but I would actually say they were orienteering faster. I can certain run faster than I was going, but it was just tough enough that I had to slow way down. Others don't have to slow down as much. I want to work on that.

Ricka: Congratulations on back-to-back solid runs. The map has a lot of blue on it. How wet was it?

#  Posted 2008-06-04 01:12:31
szurcher: Very wet, the swamps were wetter than the course setters expected them to be and sometimes there was enough water that running through the water was not possible, some people waded through water hip deep. I never wet through that much water, but knee deep was common. I guess in the Long distance A-final one swamp was really deep and Radka Brozkova lost her compass when jumping into it. It seems that at the place where she crossed her feet didn't touch the bottom and it totally freaked her out, so she went back and ran a very long detour around, losing 10 minutes. She was in 8th place before the detour. Too bad.
