Slice: Is Hammer standing on the trilliums? Shame!

Bash: No, those are... white wild CONEflowers, yeah, that's it.

Actually, he was pretty careful about that - at least when my camera was out!

MrPither: I ran through what I think is the nicest bit of forest I've ever seen yesterday. Rolling hills, fast and beautiful. Great course and sweet terrain will make for a fantastic race!

hammer: Yeah there was some pretty sweet forest out there! Fun, fun fun

Nev-Monster: Probably my favourite terrain in Canada.

Has it ever been used for a "big" race in the spring or fall? Not that it would be that much faster.

Bash: Hammer will know that. One of the seasonal issues around Horseshoe is the fall deer hunting season. I set the course during wild turkey hunting season, but luckily that's over now - and even though I've been called a turkey, I don't think I could be mistaken for one.

hammer: Ontario Champs in '95 or '96 (TOC) in late September.

FB: I had a guy level his bow at me (turkey hunter) not too far from there in a simcoe county forest about two years ago. I didn't know whether to crap my pants or or knock him out... it's amazing to be so 'terrified' and p.o.'d at the same time

Bash: I've had a huge moose crossbow aimed at me in an adventure race, and in last year's FAC Champs, some yahoos shot toward us from a pick-up truck. (They probably didn't see us - just shot across some forest as they were merrily driving along an ATV trail.) I know there are many good hunters in the world, and I think hunted meat from non-endangered animals is more ethical to eat than most other meats. But... can our society really accept the risk that even a small percentage of these guys (and I use the word "guys" intentionally) are total idiots? Yes, there are total idiots in every walk of life, but they're not usually carrying government-licenced weapons. I know there are also total idiots behind the wheels of vehicles, but at least I usually have the advantage of being protected by my own vehicle when I meet them.

superwes1000: Hey! I'm a guy and an idiot but I'd never shoot anyone with anything. My feeling is hurt.

Yeeeeehaw! I'm better now.

Bash: You might be "a guy", Superwes, but you aren't one of "these guys".
