kadley: Looks a lot like part of the Grand Tour route. Plan on doing that? Do you have to have support if you do the longer distances into the night?

Hope you had a tailwind coming down the PCH!

Check the RAAM site for the detail route maps. Runs right down thru Mt Airy and Laurel into Annapolis. Also some killer climbs thru CO/AZ/NM.

biggins: Had a great tailwind on pch, but I caught up with the tail of some week long San Fran -> LA ride, and there were hundreds of them all doing about 15 down from Malibu back to Santa Monica. It was about noon by then and the traffic was getting busy, so passing people was a pain. or actually more of a circus. I finally glued onto the back of another pack of riders also not involved in the madness and we just took over the whole outside lane and rolled home at about 30 (which was what traffic was doing anyway).

The grand tour has full support for the 200 and 300, I think the 400 too, but it doesn't look like anyone has done that one in a couple years. I'm only doing the 200, but I haven't decided if I want to do the highland or the lowland one yet.

RAAM looks like a good route. The hills look easy when I don't have to consider riding them...

eddie: damn, thats a long ride. Can you immagine anyone doing that 8 days in a row? :) Your pace on the century last week was insane. Close to 20 MPH avg for 100 miles with wind and hills.

kadley: Were kayaking with friends yesterday, and they are doing Canada to Mass (200 miles) next week. They taking rte 100 all the way, which is a bit dicey narrow in a few places, but fortunately traffic is not an issue here. They're doing it over four days, to make it really easy. Hard to ride in one day, but could be interesting over two. Runs parallel to the Green Mtns, mostly level, but has a long climb towards the end of about 2300'.
