'Bent: The dreaded Gary Fisher Sugar front shifting! I never could get your bike to shift all that well up front until they changed the crank. There's a bit of frame flex that only shows up under load. I'll give 'er a shot.

Bash: I never had *this* problem with my dearly departed Sugar. It just took a little extra effort to get it into the big chain ring sometimes. I think this the next stage of that derailleur issue I mentioned last week.

superwes1000: What's the scoop on fisher and shifting? I have a GF tassajara (a 2002) that has never shifted well - it really resists going into the big ring and then resists coming back down and, of course, I'm usually about to climb when I want to do that so I end up walking a lot of hills.

'Bent: What cranks do you have on, SW? The Bontragers were a bit flexy.

superwes1000: I know there are some bontrager components as well as shimano deore stuff too. I'm ashamed to admit that I don't actually know what a crank is or what you mean by flexy except that I think it's bad. I'll have a look - is the crank the thing the pedal is attached to?

Bash: That's the rumour I've heard.
And flexy frame bad. Stiff good.
