mkaira: Our start times in Fin 5. Quite nice ones I think.

day 1 day 2 day 3 day 4 day 5 emit
Charlie 15:50:00 12:46:00 10:12:00 11:50:00 10:54:00 125113
Clark 13:57:00 11:51:00 10:35:00 13:03:00 10:43:00
Miikka 14:13:00 13:21:00 10:55:00 12:31:00 10:03:00 49979

Days 1-3 are just half a mile from our camping area, so it doesn't matter even if we have differences between the start times.

mikee: Have fun at Fin5 and I hope to see you at Oringen!

Mikka: it was nice to meet you at the Suunto Games, I should have bought one of those Chicago-O suits too, they are nice!

Soupbone: Hey Mikee, wish i could bring you one, but they are all gone. The new order is being slow to get organized. I have a small childs shirt left, do you have any kids yet ??

#  Posted 2008-06-27 14:16:03
mikee: No, no kids yet ;-). See you in Sweden!

chitownclark: Miikka: Those are great start times. The first competitive day is Sunday, right? We'll be driving up from Mänttä that morning. We'll have to get an early start...Get Tuovi up early so she can make us traditional Finnish breakfast!

And I like the early starts on D5-Friday. With any luck, we can get down to Turku early for some sightseeing before embarking on the ferry.

mkaira: Yes, the first day is Sunday, then Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri. Note, that the last day is (quite) long distance day, so it really is nice to have early start times. No pressure on Soupbone, but there are 94 runners in his class, the second largest.

#  Posted 2008-06-29 17:29:33
chitownclark: Well with his 2007 Fin5 experience, those 93 other runners are toast.

Soupie (or Soupi in Finnish?) is on a roll. He won his age group at a national A-meet out in California last weekend by many minutes, and ran a 20:41 5km race yesterday.

Unfortunately he let his arch-rival slip by coming into the finish chute. Now he's in 5th Place (scroll down to 50-54 age group) instead of tied for 4th. But since he is actually 55 for orienteering races, he's competing in this 2008 running circuit with the "kids."

mkaira: Some new information available on the Organizer's webpage. I guess that's all information we'll get. Nothing special I think. The prize ceremonies for Soupie on Sun, Mon and Thu at 6:30pm.

#  Posted 2008-07-03 19:53:43
Soupbone: Ok Miikka, Thanks for the info, you are funny about the prize ceremonies, I am just hoping to make the middle of the pack. that would be a victory. Clark is going to e.mail you our final info about arriving. But you knoe the basic plan. We will be taking the night ferry from Stockholm on the 11th and arrive in Helsinki on the 12th am. I believe its the viking line. I am not sure.

#  Posted 2008-07-04 12:12:52
mkaira: OK, I'm waiting for an email from Clark. Hopefully you are not going to have too much baggage, I think I can fit two large (not huge) luggage from you, my own stuff and four persons in my Prius and then it is completely full. I think you both are familiar, how big car Prius is.

chitownclark: Miikka:
We'll be arriving Helsinki harbor on Viking Lines ferry from Stockholm next Saturday morning, about 9-10am.

Sari, Charlie and I will be aboard. I hope we can all fit into the Prius. Once we get to Mänttä we can get rid of Sari, and have a bit of breathing room. Is it possible to strap two bags onto the top of the car?
