I just wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to GHO and old man Gagarin for giving us US youngsters an awesome training weekend. The Wadd did some crazy work getting this all set up, and Peter made sure we were able to take advantage of every bit of it. I discovered the old man is not only frickin fast, but he's a pretty cool dude too. When I walked into the hotel lobby trying to figure out if it was the right one on the strip, who did I see but Peter lounging out with a slim silver laptop, surfing the internet and watching a football game on TV. Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks? This old man makes my college buddies look antediluvian!

Sandy and Holger gave two extremely inspiring presentations that made us all want to go out and train 22 hours a day (even though they told us to build up the hours over time). It was really an honor to be in their presence and learn the gritty details of what it takes to become a real champion.

All in all this was the best camp I have ever been to. The combination of exciting training with fascinating presentations from some of the most distinguished figures in both our sport and science made for one stimulating weekend.

As Spike wrote in his blog today, Hamilton just may well be the Halden of North America. Or should we call it Kristiansand now?

To begin with, I never considered Peter to be an "old dog", and I think, he can teach some young dogs a lot of tricks. The problem is, the young dogs do not listen most of the time, thinking they know it all and more. Also, I think, DVOA can give GHO run for their money in next couple of years.
I think, looking at Peter’s maps and comments, it was excellent training camp, thow I could not attend; Thanks to GHO and Hammer!

I partially agree with Greg. But surely John is wise enough by now to realize just how fast, wily, and avant garde PG is.

As for DVOA - I'm all for it, but it won't happen unless we make it happen.

You might expect John to be that wise, but as Greg said, the young dogs do not listen most of the time. Apparently it has finally sunk in.

As for DVOA, I think we just took 7 of the 32 US team slots as primary-DVOA. And we do have a TNT now and some reasonable weekend training. But we've got a lot of work cut out to get even close to Halden, or even Hamilton for that matter. Apparently we are also picking up AttackPoint users (or rather AttackPoint is drawing in more & more DVOAers). Let's keep it going!

Let's just take that Bjørn Kjellstrom thing and call it a day.

Let me add that CSU has 6 members on the standing team, pretty good for a club of like 30 people. :)

Where was this great DVOA club this past weekend? Granted, they have excellent Nav-Stock representation last summer, so I can't slam them too badly.

See you in Cinci maybe?

DVOA also needs to groom and prepare the next generation so we can all retire. We should do a better job with this as are especially well positioned in theory for junior development. In practice, however, we don't do nearly enough. Boris is right about CSU -- they are like the US Special Forces.

DVOA should be like the Chinese PLA (or something -- please provide your own analogy). We should seek to overwhelm with numbers, and from that, develop a competitive force.

Speaking of Cinnci - we'll be there, and I'd sure like to have some of our fast juniors be an integral part of the action.

Quantity has a quality all of its own. (I've seen this attributed to a number of authors, I have no idea who really came up with it).

As far as junior development is concerned....
Falcons, YOA and FWOC are the leaders in Canada. GHO's junior programme is non existant.

See you in Cinncy! But watch out for the Gators, marky mark is back!

Oh beautiful Cinncy! Why must thou be so far away? Canst thou not my yearning sense? Take me closer to your precipitous soul.
