| coach: | Definately, can't see why anyone uses those things on a bike.
So much nicer with the stuff on a rack, not your back. |

| jjcote: | Like he says, nobody on a long tour ever wears a backpack. And it's no better locally. Racks/panniers rule. |

| Cristina: | I use a messenger bag for my short commute. It's a lot more comfortable than a backpack but I wouldn't want to use it for very long. |

| vmeyer: | Yes, I so agree!! :) Monday (yesterday) was first day without the backpack. Even though I don't go many miles each way, it felt so much better! I had to wait and see if I would actually ride my bike to work more than once before I made the plunge.
I went with the Topeak Explorer and a bag that attaches which can be unzipped for panniers for additional space. |

| bbrooke: | I'm glad you mentioned the specific type you bought, because I was going to ask.
Right now I'm using a backpack. But, I don't think it'll be big enough to hold bulky winter clothes when the weather gets cold, and then I might need to upgrade to something like the Topeak Explorer + bag. |
