Terry:
Would you like to share a big house in Laramie with a bunch of orienteers during Laramie Daze & US Champs, sharing dinners and wine together in the evenings, having a roof over our heads during the inevitable thunderstorms, enjoying a hot shower every day? I have found the following two houses for rent. Eric Bone and I will take at least the first one if we can fill it up. Let me know ASAP if you are interested!

1) Roomy 3 BR, 3 bath townhouse. Can sleep up to 8 if some camp on floor. Small yard. We bring our own linens and kitchenware. $1100 for Aug. 3-10 (I will ask cost for adding extra days). If fully occupied, this shakes out to about $150/person for those in beds, $115/person for those on floor. I plan to book this one if we can fill it.

2) Smaller 3 BR, 2 bath condo. Upscale interior. No yard. Fully stocked with linens and kitchenware. Sleeps 4 in beds. $1100/wk, or $238/person.

Both units: no smoking, no pets. Both of these are in the town of Laramie.

If interested, email me the following:
-- Interested in unit #1?
-- If so, bed or floor space?
-- Interested in unit #2?
-- Entire week of August 3-10? If not, which nights? Interested in paying a premium to extend stay earlier/later?

More news, mostly disappointing, about these units.

#1, the roomy one that "sleeps 8", is completely unfurnished. I guess the realtor and I had a miscommunication. No beds is one thing, but no kitchen table or chairs?? Maybe if it cost a lot less. I could try to bargain her down.

Unit #1 is on Comanche St.

There is internet in the luxurious unit #2, which is on Mitchell St. There is also washer/dryer. She said that there are two double beds plus a bunk bed, and the lower bunk is a double. I don't get why she only wants 4 people there when it can sleep 7 in beds. I wonder if she is hinting that we should rent both, but "really" put most people in unit #2 and not tell her. I'm not very good at playing these kinds of games.

The two places are 2.8 miles apart. So it's not like those in one unit could just dash over to the other.

Maybe you could adopt a "don't ask / don't tell" policy about having seven people in there -- unless you think the realtor's going to stop by and check up on you...

Earth to realtor: why would we want to rent a completely unfurnished house, if we're trying to avoid camping? I don't think it's reasonable to expect anyone in our situation (i.e. traveling and thus not bearing furnishings) to rent #1 at all, let alone before renting #2.

Yes, I think that's the way to go. I just emailed Mikell to see if he would visit the place for us and find out whether it can actually sleep 7 in beds, since the realtor wasn't very clear and I don't want to press her on the point.

I have decided to rent the 3BR condo and house 8 people there. We just have to hope that the property owner doesn't read AttackPoint.

I've got four "definite" and three "maybe". Let me know if you are interested!

I told her that we usually camp and that many of us might not mind sleeping on the floor. If you think of it as indoor camping, then the unfurnished townhouse has certain amenities not available at Yellow Pine.
