blairtrewin: Have you ever run an urban sprint other than the park- and campus variety that we specialise in in Australia and North America? If not I can definitely understand. European urban sprints are a very different beast.

I'm thinking that my ideal would be something which combines the intense decision-making of European old towns with something longer than a sprint race. This is starting to sound like the Venice race, which has moved up several rungs on my 'to do' list.

feet: Yes, it's on mine too, just waiting for a semester I'm on leave at the relevant time (or else not teaching, at least). This year it's not feasible, given I have to teach on Monday morning, at least not unless I was more confident about making a double connection at Heathrow and JFK...

Although given my newfound predilection for plantar fascia issues, I'm not sure I'd like to run such a race regularly.

The other European hard surface race I'd like to do (not orienteering) is this.
