| Yukon King: | didn't eb blog about O-mistakes a few months ago? I seem to recall he felt that it WASNT exertion (I call it no oxygen to brain) but, uh...sumthin else that made for mistakes...sumthin with speed as well, mistakes associated with speed was what he was concerned with maybe slightly different from mistakes at hi heart-rate. But then he was talking about elite-O where he felt that the athletes were super-fit, so speed & heart-rate were somewhat disconnected - I didnt entirely agree with him, given that I have NO experience w elite-O, only w intermediate O-folk who are indeed struggling w hi heart-rate assoc. w/ reduced blood supply to brain & resulting "toopid-brain"...
ps story about kids O-ing cracked me up esp. part about just plain not remembering after one minute, lil hummingbird-heads...hmmm...don't send 'em out on their own yet ;) my husband found he O-ed WAY better w a heart-rate monitor - kept it below X beats by judicious walking (climbs etc) and he was able to navigate way better... |

The discussion wasn't really about whether exertion makes you ragged (only a fool would debate that) but whether choosing to exert was a distraction in and of itself. I'll let the posts stand without further defense here. |
