| ziggyr: | I was going to give some smack about the race. But with smack going on about the swim (my money is on you, and is Jerritt the bookie). You appear to be in top shape this year and I think you are going to whop us. |

| iriharding: | Stephen and Kari are coming off a bunch of high altitude thin air stuff ; I think they may find it very hard work in the low altitude high humidity high viscosity air @ xxxxexx xoxxxy xoxxxt . All those corn fields sure do raise the humidity and viscosity of the air .
My money is on "Off the map" |

| O Steve!: | ...and dont forget the bugs...didnt have them in Colorado.....
Kari and I will be looking for "the boys" out on the course... |

| ziggyr: | We were hoping for high Temps and high humidity. It would give us a bit of an edge as long as no one blacks out on the bike. It looks like a great day for a race according to the forcast.
BTW, are there corn fields in Wisconsin? That should narrow it down. Is it possible there will be turkeys? |

| iriharding: | David, it seems like you are proposing to supplement your Clif bars etc with food gathered on the run - yes there is corn available , good numbers of wild turkeys have been seen , you might also wish to bring along a beaver trap (and suitable license) to round out your hunter gatherer diet. Fishing on the kayak leg is quite good also. |

| pfc: | Oo, altitude training (with nausea) vs. Jensen Lake trails (with sweat). Who to pick? I'll have to contradict Ian and put my wager on Suicide Hotline...
Beverage of choice to each member of Off the Map if you prove me wrong. |
| # Posted 2008-07-10 06:58:34 | |
| ziggyr: | Now with the option of race diet high in corn carbs and fish protein, we will not need to carry any food. With the lighter load we should be able move at least 0.5s faster per mile.
Since it seems Steve is a gambling man, I am going to say that Suicide Hotline is going down. Now in the vein of swimming race...I am thinking in order save even more weight this should ala b'day suit. |
| # Posted 2008-07-10 07:34:02 | |
| iriharding: | Glad to see that finally you guys are going to compete hard against each other ..... in the past we have had some kind of SuicideHotLine-Off the map love fest when you have joined forces out there ........ |
| # Posted 2008-07-10 09:31:04 | |
| pfc: | Now all your so-called friends are egging you on towards a showdown... |
| # Posted 2008-07-10 18:30:38 | |
| O Steve!: | nice try Ian....
no showdown on our part with "off the map"...we dig these guys.... "map love fest" is to Adventure Racing is as "going off the front with a strong cyclist" is to bike racing..... it helps to have friends in the peleton....and on the AR course... ...that way its mutual benefitial and you can crush the young punk up starts of superior fitness....if you cant be fast you gotta be cagier to beat the better athletes out there.... |
| # Posted 2008-07-10 18:35:03 | |
| O Steve!: | and in addition....we always make it a point to hlep out WEDALI....and look at how well they have done when we are in the same race... : ) |
| # Posted 2008-07-10 18:36:03 | |
| ziggyr: | I will have to agree with Steve. I am not getting any younger and there is a lot of benefit to a peleton. "The boys" have found it mutully benefical to have friends with you on the course.
I am looking forward to a diet of Corn, Turkey and Fish during the race. It is shaping up to be a nice day for the race. Yea, I think maybe you should not carry Wedali as much this year. Without Steve driving Wedali to push push, I do not think Wedali would be the team they are. |

| iriharding: | Ok...Ok.... love and peace it is ... but you guys have to only have 2 people per kayak and 1 person / bike. |
