vmeyer: Maybe low on the fitness points today, but you earned extra "support your kids" points!!

barb: :-)

Terry: Wow, the end of a long era at Millennium! Any cake?

Enjoy your break!

barb: No cake. Though I did have ice cream which is why I'm now awake at 2:30 am. I feel unsettled about leaving. Like I'm losing a home and a community, even though I was feeling less and less like I fit in and was contributing.

I start the new job today (Wed) - with a bang: there is a Board meeting this week. I apparently won't have a computer, even though all I do is computer stuff, for a few weeks...

Terry: Hah. I had a martini last night which is why I'm now awake at 5:15 (and have been since 2:45). In recent years alcohol has disturbed my sleep.

I think it makes sense that you'd feel unsettled about leaving a place you've been at for so long.

How does this week's Board meeting affect you? You're not on the Board, are you? That's funny that your computer will not arrive for a few weeks. I can't remember the name of the place you're working ... I'm sure it's somewhere in your log. Are you going to ISMB? I'm not, but several from my lab are.

barb: I am going to ISMB. In fact, I'm responsible for the annual ISMB orienteering event. It's going to be a street-O for the first time this year; the staff person I work with really didn't want to deal with getting the participants to travel to the park where there is a real O map. It sounds like someone from the Toronto club is going to make the map/course - YAY! (I had been planning on arriving there a day ahead of time to make it...)

I'm not on the Board of my company (Constellation Pharmaceuticals); just a lowly worker bee. I'm looking forward to seeing the scientists' presentations and hearing some of the feedback.

peggyd: There's a lot to be said for being a lowly worker bee.

#  Posted 2008-07-10 02:44:40
barb: Amen to that.

Terry: I will talk up the ISMB orienteering event among my lab members.
