| gail: | Nice looking dogs. How old are they? |

| kissy: | They are 8 month old Basenjis, brother and sister. So, we really couldn't separate them. And they couldn't be better behaved. They spent yesterday and this morning exploring the house, and now they're lazing in the sun on the kitchen floor. A much better life for them than the shelter. |

| bbrooke: | I can't get over how cute they are... |

| Cristina: | Okay, they're kinda cute. |

| Bash: | Congrats on your gorgeous new family members! We got our 2nd dog four years ago, and it's been great to know that they always have each other's company when we're not able to be with them. |

| peggyd: | If I were a dog person, I think I'd like a nice skinny beagle. I think they're kinda cute. |

| Swampfox: | I can not believe you are naming those poor dogs Lucy and Jack. They will be crippled for life by those names. That would be about like naming a boy Ferdinand or a girl Gertrude. No wonder they can't bark. And just look at their tails! Already curled and shriveled. If the shelter ever sees these pictures, the fur is going to fly.
It's pretty clear they need some real names. And it might not be too late for their salvation! Some names they could known by in a great state like Texas with pride and joy. You can tell the tan dog would just be ecstatic if she were a Stevie, and the other is so obviously a Ray Vaughan. PS--if these dogs really came from Georgia, they will be eternally grateful if you feed them some grits for breakfast. |

| Charlie: | One of the tricky things about naming dogs is that it is in poor taste to name them after your friends' kids. That would let out Lucy and Jack in these parts, although I think they are otherwise perfectly fine names. |

| Swampfox: | Charlie, study that second picture again. You can see how concerned those dogs are about being called Lucy and Jack, bless their souls. The expressions on their faces are saying it all: "Why did we ever leave Georgia, what did we do to deserve these names??" Plus, it looks like they haven't had their breakfast grits yet, but that's another matter. |

| kissy: | So, I just asked Lucy and Jack, and they said they *loved* their names. And that the worried look on their faces was linked to some vague references they heard about something called a Swampfox, and wondering whether or not he would make good prey. They think he will. |

| peggyd: | I'd love all pets to have pet names, not human names ... like Spot and Rover. Max is the number one dog name in America ... which of course makes me feel great. |

| peggyd: | Oh, as a kid my mom had a dog named Peggy. She claims I wasn't named after her, but let's look at the evidence. |

| jjcote: | That's okay. It puts you in good company. With Indiana Jones. |
