peggyd: Thanks for sharing. It makes me feel normal about my junk food binges (which usually aren't as extensive as yours, but guilt-producing just the same. Assuming you felt guilty. Maybe you just felt full.).

jjcote: Dinner so far tonight has been Doritos and Gatorade, and I'm looking forward to the Ben and Jerry's that's about to follow.

vmeyer: Yes, I felt very guilty, Peggy. And kind of disgusted because I did the Popsicle/cheese/Popsicle/cheese thing all in one sitting. Though, I did feel a little better today because Popsicles are not the worst sweet binge - fat free and only 45 calories each. But the cheese adds up very quickly!

I noticed that I didn't have the same desire for food after riding home in the heat today. Well, at least not as soon as I came in the door. Later, after cooling off with a nap, I had 2 Popsicles and cheese - so half the amount as yesterday. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

I am sure I will repeat J-J's dinner selections a few times next week while Roger is away, though usually I eat grapes, and crackers with peanut butter for dinner when left to fend for myself. Roger did make one of my favorite meals tonight and there are now 6 leftover bowls of it in the fridge, so we shall see if I actually heat them up, or serve them to the crows.

So, what's your favorite meal?

vmeyer: Well, in terms of making good leftovers, I like a Chicken Broccoli Bake with egg noodles, smoked chicken, lots of cheese, and other stuff. It is quite likely that I will eat it everyday next week.

Lately, Roger has also mastered a pasta dish with goat cheese, basil, cherry tomatoes. Also very good leftover.

I like casserole type dishes better than dinners where the meat, potato, vegetables are separate.

Do they taste like Italian Lemon Ice?! If so, I'll have to try them!

JanetT: I like casseroles too; the Chicken Broccoli Bake sounds good. Is there a recipe on the web somewhere?

In my newspaper Haagen Daz's lemon sorbet got high marks...

vmeyer: The CBB recipe was something adapted slightly from a church cookbook recipe. I think I deleted the Miracle Whip.
3-4 cups of cubed Chicken (Roger smokes one, but it can be regular)
12 oz egg noodles cooked
3-4 cups of cooked broccoli
can of chicken broth
can of cream of mushroom soup
can of cream of chicken soup
12-16 oz of shredded cheddar - I use medium
Bake 25 minutes at 350 in a 9x13 pan.
Top with a can of cheddar flavored Durkee onion rings and bake for 10 minutes more.

Not low calorie, but I do use reduced fat broth and soup. Large portion, but that's why we make this one, for the leftovers.

peggyd: I could totally make that. Might just skip the cheddar-flavored onion rings.
