PhilW: Or fireflies. We have them all over North America. They have some interesting habits. The flashing light is a form of mating call, and the frequency of the flashing indicates the species, so they can find each other...but then some of them imitate the frequency of other species, lure them into range, and then eat them...I hope you didn't fall under their spell...;-)
