simmo: Can someone please explain how to get this working? I've got the map, with the list of runners, but it won't show the routes or replays. I'd have to say - why isn't there some sort of help/instruction on the page.

dersu: It works fine for me. I didn't do anything special just clicked on live and everything is there. Maybe you need the latest java stuff or something.

dersu: Georghiu's routes are straighter than the others; much less wiggle. Also, Thierry did much less warm-up than the others, confining himself to a small area near the path. In contrast, Hubmann looks like he went for a few km deep in the woods (and took on some big slopes).

dersu: Scratch that last comment about Hubmann's kilometers; I was looking at the combination of his and Troan's routes. Still more warmup than THierry.

vmeyer: I had to hit refresh a few times for it to start working.

#  Posted 2008-07-17 20:58:23
dersu: It looks like some of the runners stopped transmitting right before C19, including Smola.

#  Posted 2008-07-17 20:59:31
dersu: It looks like THierry made a small mistake at C22; will this cost him the GOld?

#  Posted 2008-07-17 21:04:09
dersu: That doesn't look right. It looks like Thierry stopped transmitting twice and then when he went on the air again, the tractrac software connected his route with the older segment.

dersu: Unfortunately, the women's course seems to be completely misaligned.

#  Posted 2008-07-17 21:44:26
dersu: Sandy Hott had a fast start but she overran the second control and lost some time.

#  Posted 2008-07-17 21:47:57
dersu: I can't make too much sense of the routes in reference to the map. Sandy Hott has caught up with the runner in front of her.

#  Posted 2008-07-17 21:50:16
hammer: is anybody else finding the women's race trac not matching the checkpoint locations very well?

#  Posted 2008-07-17 21:55:18
dersu: The only control circles that they have passed through have been 2, 3 and 6. And that may have been a coincidence.

#  Posted 2008-07-17 22:20:18
hammer: this was just mentioned on the online coverage

If you are following the race with Tractrac, please re-load; the map has 'shifted' a bit and has now been re-set. When you have re-loaded all should be well!

I had given up.

wilsmith: Sandy was mentioning that the TracTrac traces seem to induce a sort of wiggle in some routes. There are legs when she knows she ran perfectly straight, and the TracTrac path shows her wiggling, wandering, and going off at funny angles. Presumably the hardware (chip? antenna?) they are using could be improved for even more accurate tracking and eliminate the wiggles.

birdman: "the map has 'shifted' a bit "

Finally, hard evidence of plate tectonics in action!

distracted: Wil -> probably caused by the inaccuracies in the GPS itself, especially under tree cover - you'll probably only get 10m accuracy at best which will lead to wiggly traces.
