bishop22: Those are some serious 800m interval times. That is quite some improvement you've been making. I'm not sure I could run any faster than that on my own right now.

RLShadow: I'm also very impressed. At one time in my life, maybe 15+ years ago, I could run 800m times like that -- now I'd be happy with doing 400m intervals at the pace you did your 800's.

ccsteve: Thanks for the kind words - as I mentioned on a previous post, I think my body has finally turned a corner and is letting me beyond my previous plateau.

Caveat - my distances are probably accurate, it's not a track. (but I prefer grass running with slight undulations anyway;-)

O tie-in - how's this for mental fatigue at higher stress - coming around the 2/3rds mark of a loop on the last 800, I had a momentary laps and couldn't tell if I was finishing the first loop or the second... (it was the second, and I did figure that out) _That's_ the exact mental stumble I'm currently experiencing in the 45-55th minute of events;-) Some random idea or thought doesn't get processed well...

2 things make the difference this year (IMHO).

1st - no broken arm/shoulder - don't do that, it really gets in the way;-)

2nd - Run Less Run Faster methodology - running only every other day, and rotating through the week on speed, distance, & hills. [and trying to get some sort of aerobic exercise in on other days, but often not] I've been able to get in good workouts and recover.

BTW - the book / methodology applies to and was designed with marathoners in mind... (not that I have any plans to do one of those any time soon)

Now - back to reality - I still only have about 50 minutes of good effort in me, so length of running is still a concern - but it's getting there.

gas_turbine: If you want to know the distance very accurately, use Gmaps pedometer. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ . I wanted to know how accurate it was, so I traced a loop around the Mendon high school track, and it came out exactly 400 meters.

ccsteve: Well... I don't have specific landmarks that show up on the google pedometer - so when I measure, it's within 5m of 400. [The picture doesn't have the field lines on it, and I use them for corners and such, and I can't pick out the rock pile for one of the other corners...-] I have a very accurate stride, so when I walked it out as 400, I knew it was reasonable - it just isn't precise;-)
