| Sandy: | For one that you can run on a treadmill for an hour! But also for maintaining a pace that I can only dream of... |

| skdewitt: | With school commitments and other things, I've had a lot of trouble keeping up a training schedule the last few years so I decided to try logging on AT to see if it helps. I see you keep up with it a lot.
An hour is about my limit on the treadmill although I'd love to go longer. Listening to podcasts and books on my portable MP3 player helps some but I still can't get into a zone... |

| Sandy: | I go through phases where I train a lot (well, a lot for me) and then phases where things get too hectic and I don't. Most times I look forward to "training" - I now actually enjoy running in the park by my house, something I'd never thought I'd be able to say. Logging on AP and knowing a few people actually read what I do, sometimes helps to get me out the door or to the gym when I might otherwise bag it. And reading other people's logs and seeing what they do inspires me to push for goals that I otherwise wouldn't think were in my reach. By far though, the biggest help with training is having someone to train with; hence my long runs with Valerie and my organizing the Tuesday night training sessions from my house. If people show up, I have to get out! |

| skdewitt: | Did you recently move to a place that's next to a park? |

| Sandy: | About a year and a half ago I bought a house that's a block away from trails that go into a narrow river valley that runs for about 10 miles. The whole thing is part of a city park. There are trails all over the hillsides on either side of the creek with a bridge crossing over every mile or so. You can be down there and it's hard to believe you're inside the Philadelphia city limits. Here's a satellite image:

| skdewitt: | It looks terrific. About 7 years ago, we moved to a town that is much closer to parks and to a house that adjoins open space. It really does make it much easier to run and get together with others who run. Our commutes tend to be longer now but it's well worth it. |
