Terry: Looking forward to hearing how the Street-O went. I encouraged my colleagues to go since they always hear me talk about orienteering but they had workshops to teach or attend.

barb: It went well! Just made one error on the map (need to check my work!) but no one complained!!!

And I don't think your colleagues were at a workshop, because we timed it when nothing else was going on...

Terry: I just checked the ISMB schedule and it looked like Saturday was filled with all-day programs that ended at 6:30, and that orienteering had a 6:00 start. How was your attendance?

I thought about being miffed that Kimmen didn't offer to send me to ISMB, but I actually don't like conferences, so I decided to just be happy I didn't get sent. There are two things I don't like about conferences: I feel stupid whenever I talk to anyone about science, and I can only listen to 2 or 3 hours of talks per day before I feel completely overloaded.

I would like to get over these things. If I could just get over the feeling stupid part, I'd be happy.

WOC relay in just a few hours. Eric has first leg. I hope he does well. He was pretty down about totally messing up the sprint quali, and then coming in at "only" 20th place in the long quali.

barb: I guess we didn't explain clearly enough, but people could start until 7:00. Most of the all-day programs ended before 6:30 (they were tutorials that didn't use all the time allotted).

I'm with you on both those things about conferences. For me it takes about 10 minutes of a talk before I get really sleepy. I think I'm getting used to feeling stupid.

20th was awesome.
