| GrantM: | are important to include in your training programme. Going for a walk (even a fast walk) is a nice way to have a rest day. It gives your body, and mind, a chance to recover, as do having easy weeks between hard weeks. And if you plan your rest days in advance then you don't have any guilty feelings about not training that day. It is a good idea to have at least one 'active rest day' each week. |

| nomiii: | what's the difference between spelling program
program and programme ? |

| Heffer: | I'm not sure, I use program, because programme looks funny to me, and I always see it written program. One might be an American spelling perhaps? |

| GrantM: | Sorry, I am showing my age. Programme used to be the correct way of spelling the word - at least in Australia. An American would have spelled the word 'program', so Heffer is correct.
With the introduction of computers the word 'program' was used to describe a series of computer instructions. But through common usage and simplification 'program' is now used for all meanings. I will also continue to spell 'colour' and 'gaol' and 'mum' the good old fashioned way. So the short answer is there is no difference. There is, however, a difference between an 'active rest day' and a 'rest day' :) |

| nomiii: | lolol nice little catch line at the end there coach grant ;)
haha i would write programme if it were the programme for a concert. and program for computer program. program probably for a training program. i've written program so many times it's beginning to not look like a real word.... |

| George: | nice tip coach grant- active rest days are goood. and yes i had decided not to train properly today so it was nice to think i sorta deserved not to.
i must be old fashioned too because i always write colour, gaol and mum, and wouldn't ever think to write them differently. program, on the other hand, i would always spell the "new" american way. |

| Heffer: | Colour, gaol and mum are not old fashioned spellings I don't think. They're certainly used by us young folk in Australia anyway. So lyke, just uze them coz there the best way 2 spll da wrds n stuff. |
