Which, as good as she is, I was in fact a little surprised with (knowing that I usually finish close to her in trail races, and that there is no way I could even come close to breaking 20 minutes any more), but I had no reason to assume it wasn't real (certified course and all that).
Sorry to hear about the issues with the race -- all sound like valid complaints, and especially troubling considering it's in the Runner of the Year series. I'm guessing you heard of the timing disaster at last year's Webster Turkey Trot, where they had no times nor places for anyone beyond around the first 50 or so runners. I can understand systems failing, especially considering how terrible the weather was, but not having any sort of backup system in place, once they realized they were having problems, seems tough to excuse. |
