bbrooke: 36 miles -- way to go!

Buying new gear (and clothes) is always a good motivation booster.

I loved clipless pedals once I got used to them. Now, regular flat pedals (or the cages) seem so inefficient. I'm slow enough that I can't afford to lose any energy input. ;-)

I like your two recent cycling photos (in the shop and by the trailhead sign).

Bash: Sounds like today was a big step forward in your cycling career - congrats! It won't be long before you'll be addicted to those clipless pedals.

vmeyer: Thanks, Brooke and Barb. It is very nice to feel like I can now pedal more efficiently, but also feel like I am working hard enough for it to be a good workout. I am already addicted to the clipless pedals. I don't have any reservations about them at all. Yeah, I might fall when I am not paying attention at some stoplight, but then that will just be another story to tell, and another picture to post. ;)

Kiki: I think it's time for some sandals!

vmeyer: Yes! I thought about you and your sandals, and I would have gotten a pair if they had them. I guess mail order will work. :)

I did buy some Terry Precision cycling shorts through the mail, and I think I am going to like them.

cedarcreek: In about a year, Valerie will be using those clipless pedals to hop sideways up curbs and to hammer downhill towards railroad crossings which she will bunny hop *all the way across*.

#  Posted 2008-07-29 17:55:08
vmeyer: Um, I don't think that is going to happen, cedarcreek, but thanks for the visual. :) Though, confidence is a nice thing, and mine is growing.

After never rollerblading further than the two block radius around my house because I was terrified of even the smallest downhill, I am happy that I have bonded with the new pedals.

jjcote: There are some pretty scary downhills within two blocks of your house!

Yes, there are those big hills! However, it was the little tiny downhill grades on the block which were enough for me. :)
