khall: MUCH better to do the whole workout than to run too fast and drop out. Yours were nice and steady (showing pace judgement as well as good endurance). So you should feel great about it! Do you feel you are doing the right things to get faster? Has your overall running speed improved in the last year? Two years? If yes to these questions, then don't change anything, you are already doing the right things!!

szurcher: It's fun to see that I am always getting a little faster. Two years ago those girls weren't even in sight. I think/hope that by next January I can run the intervals with them. I will keep working at it. Thanks for the support.
What I realized after the interval workout is that it wasn't *that* hard, I could have done more. Which means I was doing them correctly AND that I have good base training under my belt? I think I can safely work more intervals into my training program now. If only there was more time. It's hard to work in some many different things, I want to do more O training, and stay consistent with my strength training, and do more speed workouts. yikes!

khall: In order to do all those things, you will want to cut the non-specific stuff back (less watching videos on the home trainer, more running with a map in your hand). But maybe mid-winter isn't the best time to do that! Still, look at a couple of months' archives and figure out which training sessions could be cut and replaced with something more helpful.
Also, with intervals: be sure to know whether your aim is threshold pace (increasing your pace at threshold) or faster (strengthening your oxygen carrying capacity). If the former, then you should finish the workout feeling you could have done more, if the latter, then you should finish feeling you could NOT have done more :-)
