| Bash: | Or you could install one of those fancy new high-tech devices with mercury in them. Then you could see what the temperature is without opening your window, connecting to the Internet, or turning on your TV. ;-)
P.S. Hope you'll have nice weather for your RUN in to work tomorrow. |

| jtorranc: | My brother-in-law is a fan of a wireless thermometer with a display at his bedside. I can't see why I should bother with that or new-fangled 16th (?) century technology when I've got a perfectly good hand to stick out the window. If I had a window that was easier to open to go with it, the TV wouldn't even get a look in.
Addendum: I just felt a wicked urge to delete the training entry these are associated with and see what happens. Resistance successful thus far. |

| Bash: | We have the same strategy as your brother-in-law - wireless thermometer on the dresser to help determine the right number of layers to wear. Before that, I used the hand-out-the-window technique, but found that I over-estimated the cold after crawling out of a warm bed. |

| dtdo: | Sounds like more trouble than it's worth. Plus you have to choose a spot where it won't say 80F when it's really 65, or -16F when it's just -5 (not that this happens in DC). |

| Nadim: | Warmer? Is that the Canadian in you? I found today to be colder than the 54 F they predicted but didn't see what the actual high was.
I like my wireless thermometer. It has indoor and outdoor humidity as well as temp which might explain the difference in feeling too. I find the hand method to be okay but influenced by other factors. If I'm waking up and already warm, I won't feel the cold as much as in when getting the newspaper from the walk in bare feet. If warm from wearing too much inside, I won't feel just stepping out for a second either. However after a while working out, I will. I put the thermometer/humidy wireless sensor on the north side of the house on the deck out of the sun. As for the advertisements, underneath yours right now it's showing weight loss, golf and exercise subjects. Mine is telling me about Yoga, Pilates, Trail Mix and Herb Health Bars. |
