Did anyone else find it strange that we had a control (68) in an out of bounds region in the sprint champs (namely olive green garden bed)?
I'm pretty sure everyone had to at least step into the garden to punch this control (shown below). I know its obvious that you had to do this when you saw the control but shouldn't it be avoided?

indeed. they could have made the control description "boulder west side", instead of boulder southside which it was marked as (although seems pretty east side crib to me). then there was the slightly dubious but justified control 24 immediately after. there was such a small sliver of in bounds land between the building and garden i didnt notice on my map, only on the ground

Yes but the details in the first post are correct - the control is in an out of bounds garden bed, the edge of which is the timber border.

We had a better one at a somewhat recent event. A track had been rehabbed and a control had been placed at the end. Unfortunately the flag was positioned behind a sign saying "Keep Out, Rehabilitation Area"!

A recent Victorian rogaine had access to a checkpoint down a track marked "Keep Out: Quarantine Area". The organiser had permission from the land management authority, but it was still an uneasy feeling.

you missed the obscured control numbers and controls placed within 30m of each other..but who's counting

I do find it strange that the upper body was screened out. I must ask, "What do Aussie orienteers wear or not wear on their upper bodies?" :)

I figured that simon87 didn't want to offend anybody with a picture of a New Zealander ;)
