Yes 25manna, and the middle comp the day after, is next big race. And probably also my last race this year. Hoping for some good terrain!

Whats your next race?

I think I told you about my plans to study in the US or Canada, right? If I go to college it would like to be able to do some orienteering

So I have been thinking about if it would be possible to make a decent map just with the help of google earth. So I wonder if you would like to help me check this out. Choose a park or forest close to where you live and I will try to make a map over that area, send it to you and you could check if it would be anything that can be used for training. I'm thinking of a sprint map or so... if it works well then you will have a new map to train on..

What do you think?

Cool idea, I have a park near my house that is already mapped, so i could show you that area, and then you could compare your map to the one we already have...? There's not too many other new areas worth being mapped.

You should come to Carleton U in Ottawa :P!!

how does 25manna work, not all legs are run individually right?

That's a good idea. Do you have an address to this park? because if you do, then it's easy to find in google earth.

At 25-manna, leg 1,2, 23(8), 24(9) and 25(10) are individual. The five legs are run by 4 people each (forked courses). And all 4 runners need to get to the changeover before the runner on leg 23 can run out on his course. So basically it's 10 legs with 25 people running them.
Kind of confusing....

Canada and Ottawa seems nice but do you have a XC at Carleton? I'm looking for a school where I could get a athletic scholarship. Can you get one of those at Carleton?

Which cities (areas) in north america are good for orienteering? I have heard that northeast US and Vancouver is pretty good...

here's a smaller part of the park near my house.

Carleton has a xc ski team but no xc team, but Ottawa U does. I don't know anything about athletic scolarships for Canadian schools, in any case i think theyd be pretty hard to get. However it is fairly easy to get academic scolarships at canadian schools. I think athletic scolarships would be more possible in the states.

Ottawa is a good NA city for orienteering, we have a big club (relative to others in NA) and some good maps. Vancouver is no doubt the best cdn. city for orienteering right now. And ya the whole north east US is really good as well. Probably the only downfall for Vancouver is that it is far from all the major meets in the east.

OK, I have made a map now. Shall I send it to the e-mail you have listed here on attackpoint?
