Never a good thing... and the mist must have made it much harder in the open - it was reducing visibility by enough in the woodland today and was far worse on the heath. A hindrance, especially when you're trying to check control locations when hanging....

Wow. This looks like it was an incredibly tough course!! And taking the man-eating swamps, badly-marked vegetation, and weather into account, going under 10 minutes a km is pretty good!

See you next weekend. Perhaps if we hope for good weather enough it'll happen. =)

if it's a coincidence, and is noted in the comments of this event, the controller at eridge and ashdown was the same person. and both weekends, saturday was really nice and sunday horrible. he's not controlling Burnham :)

I ran here two years ago. It was only my second ever o event and on my way to the first control I too ended up in the marshes. Initially up to my waist between tussocks, and as I couldn't move, I thought I might try and swim out. Then it pelted with half rain, half hailstones.

It was similar yesterday, but without the swim..

It was pretty tough out there - but it was the best feeling to run through the finish, knowing that I'd survived the course without giving up! Felt like if I could do that, I could do anything. Maybe a bit optmistic bearing in mind I would struggle on a lot of Scottish maps, but it was a great workout nonetheless.
