pfc: How was it? Looks like a nice steady performance. You're a lucky dog, getting to spend the whole week up there.

iriharding: Great job Steve... it seems like you gave it everything you had and more

O Steve!: ha!...thanks Ian....and I wish what I had was a bit more but I got to the finish line for the 16th time....saw Karl Wolfe also...it was his 31st Birkie!

Jerritt: 16. Nice work. I always take in a bunch of food, but I always seem to cramp a fair amount. Usually starts on the hill after Mosquito Brook. I ate more than I usually do this year, and ealier and it seemed to have a very positive effect.

MAJ: Good work gutting it out to the finish!
Those leisurely 2 hour skis the day before the Birkie always seem like a good idea at the time but can come back to haunt you.

Jerritt: Wow. I didn't even catch that. That's what I call a strong taper.

O Steve!: ....that was my "Ian Harding" taper technique....but really I was touring slow...have you skied Rock Lake?...beautiful terrain....I dont think it effected my race....but the eating thing might have helped...you should have seen me eating the rolls at the finish...I was a freaking animal....funny how as my body ages things seem to change and be different...

pfc: Ian and I have MTB the Rock Lake trails on more than one occasion - there's some areas without singletrack where we're on the ski trails. This fall, I remember riding a real roller-coaster section S and E of Lake Hildebrand that got me thinking how much fun a good ski would be. I think there's a lot of similarity between skiing and biking in terms of the way you attack the terrain.

iriharding: Steve, if you do the" Ian Harding taper" (Trade mark applied for) technique it includes food and hi calorie drink before the race as well. I hope you were laying on a different table to the one with the rolls and food on it !
