| ebuckley: | What's the route from 66 to Glencoe? It sounds like a nice loop if you could avoid 109. |

| fthfl stwrd rudy: | go to the Southwest corner of the park (where I 44 goes over the train tracks). There is a gate and just past that gate on your right is a rock levy. Take that to the tracks. Cross the tracks and ride to the I-44 overpass. Then go up the hill. Do not go under 44. Keep going til you hit the outer road. Then cross over the next set of tracks and on your right the trail starts on the razor back and goes north behind the camper sales. If you look at Google Earth, you will see that you are following an old train bed from this point, with minor detours where portions are washed out/inaccessible.
Follow it through the woods till you see a white 5 gallon bucket. Just past the bucket is a left turn take that to the creek. This is basically due north. 109 is close by to the left may be visible. Cross the creek and come up the west side of the old train bridge. Then follow the trail as it veers back to the edge of the river here- and you will start heading north/northeast. You go about 2 or 3 miles, around rebel bend which heads you more directly northeast, and come to an old train bridge over another creek. This part is right at the end before you hit Glencoe. look for the trail on your left before the bridge. Then go about 200 yds and there is a dip in the trail and it turns right and then turns left. Where it turns left look for the trail on your right. Take that down and across the creek and back up to the old train bed. You go another 100 yds and you come out on Al Foster trail and then just follow that to the back of Castlewood. |

| ebuckley: | Wow, that's complicated. I think I'd need a map (which I can probably create from the above instructions and some help from google. The reason I ask is that I have another potential AR course that runs out of Castlewood and loops like that are useful. |

| fthfl stwrd rudy: | its really a lot simpler than it sounds. Orienteers and adventure racers would probably solve the little details on the fly, once they knew the access point, which we didn't. key point to remember: its an old railroad, and trains for obvious reasons follow fairly straight lines. |
