PG: Can you get access to a treadmill and just set it at 12%?

cmorse: The only treadmills I have access to are here at UConn at the gym. I used to belong, but even at 5:30 in the AM I used to have to wait for a treadmill and for $10 a pay period, I'll just try to find some trails and make the best of the hills they present me with.

Congrats on Holyoke BTW, outstanding effort... I hope I'm still that fit when I'm your age... wait, I'm not that fit now.. :-(

JHen: When I was preparing for Mt. Washington, I did what Peter suggested and it really helped. All that indoor hill work made the real hills much easier to take. Unfortunately, I got in the year (the only year ever!) that the weather didn't allow us to go to the top. My Tshirt should have an asterisk on it.

cmorse: Well, this year is also the US Mountain Running champs - so I expect my relative placing ought to be even lower. Perhaps after the Pig I'll renew my membership at the gym, or maybe use one of those free 30 day trial memberships at Courthouse...
