Read the meet program in the car today as Roger and headed to the NYC area. An excellent read!
The scary part is that all the history was written up by the physics professor in the family, and not the historian!
There will be an addendum in the meet packet. A few things didn't make it in - apparently some versioning problems with our collaborative site.
Yes, well, not sure what is missing, but so much is there already. It was a comprehensive write-up. I especially liked the quick reference guide.
I understand that I need an ID to enter the base/campus if I am 16+? And, I should have my passport handy if I am non-US? ;)
The notes specifically say packet pickup until 10 at the sprint venue, but nothing about packets at the ski slope in the afternoon. We're driving up that day and skipping the sprint--is it safe to assume we can get packets at the Middle venue? (and not have to go on base to get them)
As for the ID--it's a good thing we're skipping the sprint, because my son is 16 and doesn't have a govt issued picture ID. Hard to believe he is the only one in that boat...
On Quick Reference Card there is an information when and where packets can be picked up. So, 7:30-10:00 at Sprint venue; 11:00-14:00 at Middle distance venue.
The Sunday packet pick up is at the ski slope, while the event is at Buckner?? Is this correct?
Thanks, speedy. Yes, we'll have packets at both locations Saturday and at Buckner for Sunday.
Highlander, the Sunday packet pickup is at Buckner, same location as the Sunday race:
Sprint (Sat): main post, Trophy Point area
Middle (Sat): Ski Slope
Classic (Sun): Buckner
fredder, I'm sure you're right - there are probably a number of 16 year olds without a driver's license. I'd try a school ID as another option. If the gate guards give you trouble, let them know you are here for the USMA Orienteering meet and give them the names of Colonel Michael Hendricks and Majors Jonathan and Victoria Campbell as points of contact. I don't think it'll be an issue - we have many large public events here, and I'm sure there are a lot of high school kids that don't have driver's licenses yet and seem to get on post just fine. As long as they're with parents or coaches, not having a DL should be fine.
Valerie, a US driver's license is fine. Passport can't hurt, but if you have a DL, you've met the US government-issued criteria. Our au pair (from Bosnia) uses hers to get on post without any trouble.
Correction!!!
Packet pickup on Saturday is at Trophy Point/Ski slope depending on the time.
Packet pickup on Sunday is ONLY at Buckner. A problem with the meet notes. Thanks for catching it!
Are you planning to distribute control descriptions in meet packets or at the start line? Or only on the map?
Clue sheets for all courses are included in the meet packets.
Hey Jordan for your middle which course am i running? It says in the beginning of the meet notes that ISVF that we run Brown Z but you don't have a brown Z course :/
Dammit, another thing to fix... ISVF is on Brown X.

As the creator of the Red X/Y confusion at the Ran-it Granite, I can relate, Hannah. Hang in there!
