j-man: You should borrow my (or Speedy's, Wyatt's, etc...) GPS. I just inherited Vadim's old one and now I am fixated on measuring all my runs. But, my intuitive sense of pace has been pretty accurate so far, validating my "backed-into" distance estimates. Anyway, 5 minutes/K is a brisk pace. You should feel like you are pushing. Not everyone is an Eddie who can do all his runs at 4.0001001 minutes/K. Although, and Daniel's might not support this, I think think there is merit to doing pretty much what he does. When I was faster (though younger) I did pretty much the same pace and milage with good results.

Tundra/Desert: I think Eddie could be faster with better-structured training. Not much faster, just faster.
