I might have forgotten to pick up the tape from the east foot of the cliff - we moved the flag to the north foot part way through the setting.

Hi. Nah, the pink tape was on a different feature to the control and the pink tape was on the north foot of a cliff. The description said north eastern cliff which doesn't make sense so maybe the description was supposed to say north western cliff (which would match where the control was) and the circle didn't get re-centred on that cliff when you made the change?? It doesn't matter. It was a lovely day, a nice course and a I know the difficulties you would have had, especially in regards to changing things!! I wouldn't have noticed the control placement if I had done 8 before 9 cos from that direction I saw the control from way down the hill.

The number of times I started heading to the wrong control at Easter was frightening!

Not our pink tape! I placed one piece of pink tape in that area and that was on the eastern foot of the curved cliff, not on the northernmost (i.e. northwestern) cliff, which doesn't have multiple feet. We described the curved cliff as northeastern to distinguish it from that cliff further north. Yes, not an ideal description as it is only marginally more east than the other, but we thought enough to make sure people didn't think it was the northernmost cliff on the edge of the detail. We then moved the flag to the northern foot as H2 and H4 came into that control from the south east. So if the pink tape was on a different feature then either it wasn't ours; or I dropped some tape inadvertently; or some animal moved the tape to a different cliff!

Well I am pretty certain the tape (I found) was on the curved cliff and the control was on the north-most cliff that is barely legible. I did navigate to it twice and still thought the same thing. The control was on the edge of rock detail which is why it was so visible coming back from 8.

I didn't take much notice because I saw the control from a long way off but when Rachel was showing me where she found the tape my first thought was "the circle on your course must be wrong because my control was on the northern cliff on the edge of the rocks". I then checked my course and found my circle was the same but I definitely remembered it as being right at the northern edge of the group of rocks.
Maybe there was an extra bit of tape out there and the control got put on that instead of the one Eoin put out.
If it helps to work out what really happened the tape Rachel found was tied securely to a stick in the ground, had writing on it and was fairly short.
