| szurcher: | Aqua-jogging is pretty hard on a hurt ankle. When I tore my ligaments, I was only allowed to go aqua-jogging with the brace after a few weeks of rest and biking. I think the reason so that that water resistance puts a lot of pressure on the injured ligaments.
Biking is probably your best best. |

| szurcher: | I realize that your ankle is certainly not as bad as mine was, I was on crutches for 10 days, but here is what my build-up looked like after the injury: http://www.attackpoint.org/viewlog.jsp/user_315/pe...
Stepper is also an option if you can find one to use. |

| Cristina: | Thanks for pointing me to your recovery build-up. Since actual professional guidance has been somewhat lacking for me it helps to see what you did under the care of someone who knew what they were doing.
I realized a little too late that the aquajogging wasn't a good idea so soon... but at least now I've tried it. ;-) My doctor said I could start running, just a very little bit, probably on Monday, as long as all the swelling is gone. We'll see, that might be a bit soon. Not that I know how to tell. Most of the stuff I've read has suggested that one can start doing balance and motion recovery exercises as soon as 2-3 days after the sprain. So last night (5 days after the sprain) I did just a little bit of balancing and alphabet writing, followed by ice. Didn't really hurt, doesn't seem to have made anything worse, so I guess I'll keep it up. |
