There are changes in the Altered Boogie Pepper and some hot new chilies have got some boogie in their step this week, most notably the fiery John Fredrickson pepperino and the saucy Samantha Saeger pepperina, who were not just smoke and mirrors at the West Point races last weekend.

But probably there will be even more mind-blowing alterations at the Team Trials one week hence, and nobody can know what will happen in advance.

If you are feeling a little flat and urbane, and somewhat lacking in spices in your daily life, you can burn your tongue if you like: http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Stadium/7418/al...

Boogie on, sweet chile peppers!

Are Barb Bryant, Nancy Koehler and Donna Fluegel really pepperinos? I could have sworn they were pepperinas. Or is there some kind of chile-swapping going on here I don't want to know about?

Well, I guess sometimes they are sweet, and sometimes they are very hot. I don't know who would be the real expert on this, but if you suspect something scurrilous, then Mr. G is a usually reliable font of information.

And Mr. G would say that one look at the pepperino standings, which are being led by a large margin by a cripple -- yeah, I know that's not a PC word, but did you see him in Cincinnati? -- well, one look tells you something strange is going on out there in Laramie.

Not that we haven't known that for a long time....

Hmmm, I think that qualifies as a response, but not an answer.

Ok, then how about this? It happens on occasion that there are peppinas who wish to run with the pepperinos, and so do. When it does happen, they show up on the pepperino list, naturally.

Is running with the pepperinos like running with the bulls?

It's very similar, though with fewer tomatoes, of course.

For me, running blue has been rogaine training as well as an excellent exercise in humility. And more time in the woods.

Apparently the Quad-cramps know how to avoid the bonus-scoring Championship races...
