Seeing how the best do it is probably not bad either. If you go to Bjoernar Valstad and Hanne Staff's website they have a bunch of their training info posted. The site is in Norwegian but a lot of it is charts and graphs so you should be able to understand it.

I have many of their webpages listed in the links section of the ORCA website. Scroll down until you get to the pictures of really fast runners with expensive European o-suits.

One of the best from a training perspective is Pasi Ikonen's training site. He list distances, duration, heart rates, maps, etc.
