We had 2 events this week-end, they took place in Tulle, Corrèze.
Saturday, the Middle Distance Championship, and sunday, the French Club Championship.
You can see maps, photos and Tero's impressions on his website : www.tero.fr
Sunday, the Tous Azimuts Douai won the competition, I will make a video for my club to remember that (our club was created 8 years ago) and you will see the atmosphere.

OK Denseln went on France, and finished 1st in the 4th division (they couldn't run in 1st division)
A little video of Tero on spectator control : tero.mpg
1st division mass start (only 20 runners) : departd1.mpg
Have fun, maps are really particular...

A great quote in Tero's latest posting...

Only bad orienteers are not able to run fast on “not so good” map.

why do you say that ? I was there and indeed the vegetation can be tricky at times but I think the map quality was quite good ! As was the course setting.

TAD are perhaps the most impressive O-club I know. They seem to pop up on training week(end)s everywhere and have excellent camaraderie and motivation. The terrain in the north of France isn't what France is renowned for, yet they have trained a lot of technically competent juniors and got a couple of JWOC medals to boot...

and now they have put together a team that can take on and beat the best in france.....

chapeau bas!!!

I've just said that because in my course (on saturday) I found that the ground was changing.
I liked the map too, great job for Vincent.

Thanks Neill ;)

Désolé mon anglais est pas top ; c'est vrai qu'au TAD on s'éclate vraiment à chaque course / stage.

as regards map quality, the map wasn't at fault for the mistakes i made (either jetlag or just being a crappy orienteer or both), but occasionally i felt things weren't quite right. For example, 2->3 on the 9k relay, after leaving the control i wasn't anywhere near the big re-entrant...

"Particular" in English means "specific" (among other things). "Particulier" in French can be transtlated as "particular", but in this case a better choice would probably be "peculiar".

Nobody was being too picky (except j-man, glass house inhabitant extraordinaire :) ).

Methinks you missed my joke.

I know I did. I barely speak English, only parse selected mots, and can't even swear in Russian. So, mindsweeper's subtle (or overt) humor is way over my head.

Nothing wrong with that, so does Boris, and I did not teach him that :-)

Speaking of orienteering and modesty... I think the first and (so far) last place I saw a communal restroom without stalls was a Norwegian orienteering race where a barn was set up with a few cardboard boxes.
