Looking for some great fall orienteering? Up North Orienteers has an exciting weekend planned for the 2009 Boulder Dash, which will be held October 2-4 in south-central New Hampshire.
The weekend begins with a Friday sprint to benefit the US team. It will be held at Shieling Forest in Peterborough, NH, which is about 15 miles south of the event center. The course setter and organizer for the sprint is Ernst Linder.
Two days of classic A-meet competition will be held at Fox State Forest in Hillsborough and Sargent Center in Hancock. Course setters are J-J Cote and Stephen Koehler (Fox) and Peter Goodwin (Sargent). W, Y, and O rec courses will
also be offered both days, as well as child care.
Inexpensive lodging (unheated cabins with electricity and camping) will be available at Camp Chenoa in Antrim, midway between the two A-meet venues. Camp Chenoa is also our event center and will be the site of our Saturday night dinner and vampire-O.
Anyone staying at Camp Chenoa will have access to hot showers and full use of the heated dining hall and kitchen for hanging out and preparing their own meals (except Saturday during the dinner). Dogs and alcohol are not allowed at the
camp, however, so please plan accordingly.
Antrim also has a number of eateries, from Dunkin' Donuts and a gourmet bakery to a brick oven pizza restaurant and at least two other restaurants. And for anyone who's not up for unheated lodging, the area also has plenty of inns and B
& Bs. A list is posted on the UNO website.
You can register online now for the events and lodging. Please go to
http://www.upnoor.org for detailed information about the event and the link for online registration. Last day to register without a late fee is September 19. If you
have any questions, please contact Pete and Lex Bundschuh (contact info is on the website).
See you in NH in October!
