Discussion: tracking

Someone shuold try to activate LS37 yokuppi runners to use their phones/gps devices for live tracking. Tehre must be plenty of runners who already have devices and data plans.

Yökuppi should provide tracking devices to all runners. Problem solved.

That would indeed solve the problem, but the money is going for the Prague trip so maybe next year...
I'm pretty sure there's only me, Juuso ans Salla that has a gps-logger cabable for LIVE. Salla's logger and Jusbet's phone should work but haven't tested. Maybe I should.

I think hämäläinen and hytönen had phone with internal gps. There may be some others too. Lots of MU runners who has gps phones (antti, jones..)

Yeah, I didn't think it through. I only thought of the gps-logger owners.
Not sure who has gps-phones but I'll bring the subject up when ever I can.

You know, to make this possible course setters have to send map/course files to me in advance and I need to calibrate map at be ready to publish map in time. It's not a big task but there is some work anyway, so more runners means there is more point in doing it. And for us there it doesn't matter is there 5 or 15 runners, it takes same work.

Jagge, I get your point. And I also thank you for doing this weekly task. Modifing Terkelsen's first proposal, could there be some sort of carrot offered by Yökuppi ry if you use tracker..? Cheaper season ticket, 5% more points or something. Just to encourage people to use their already possessed gadgets.
Another way could be to market it on Yökuppi's front page. To think of it, I'll get into it. Jagge, could you make a short summary of the gadgets and send it to my email? I know most of it but to get it right the first time, your help is needed. I also haven't ever installed the software so few words about it wouldn't hurt either.

Last Sentence does not convince me about any trip, but If UG is travelling, it is anyway good that leftover money is spend to something useful. Case closed.

Setting up the Live tracking just for two or three runners like in previous races is not worthwhile. Let's try to get more people tracked. Setting up live system really needs "some" work. Once did it for Orimattilan Iltarastit and even then Jagge took mainly care of calibrating the map.

They are (or already did, can't remember) making a trip to Prague, that I know, but the money is from their own pockets. It's just been a common joke that every autumn some of the UG guys are going abroad (e.g. Jape 2007 Pattaya).

Don't you know that with the contracts, season tickets, entry fees and T-shirt selling they have made a fortune. :) That is also well known fact. Discussed this with Tuxi last autumn or was it this spring, then payed me big numbers to be silent about it... Hirppa you just could have let the story go more wild.
