Friday, October 2, 2009 is the last day for regular registration for the Hudson Highlander/Lowlander, to be held on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Harriman State Park.

Three maps, one trail run, three food drop offs, Queen/King of the Mountain, fascinating terrain, with elements both for fast runners and technically inclined racers.

We expect a great group of racers, with a bunch of French elite orienteers and a group of the US orienteering team as well as a few strong Canadiens. So join us for the long tough course and the post race BBQ.

I wonder.... With all due respect to the Divinely Appointed Billygoat Steering Committee: Is the Highlander now a more significant event than the Billygoat?

My first thought: Never!
My second thought: Well, the HH has attracted one of the top orienteers in the world and the Billygoat hasn't, but who's to say it won't?
Third thought: HH is a marathon; Billygoat is a 15k (or thereabouts). Which is more "significant"? :-)

Well, the Billygoat is "the most important orienteering event in the world". If the Highlander becomes "the most significant orienteering event in the world", everyone wins.

HH is a metric marathon, Fair Hill is a marathon...

But HH is held in Harriman terrain every year, da Goat moves around - I think the HH is a highly significant event, even if I've only managed to run it once...
