Look, I don't notice lots of things, but that I would notice. I think.

And I just checked. It's still there.

Ok, if you replied with "It's still there, I remember that 'Big Dipper' fresco we had painted on the ceiling", I'd be more concerned.

It may have to do with natural talent for making things work, but it's not yours that I'd be examining.

hate to rain on this by saying that mine used to be all peppy and quick to locate too... now it's slow, like an old person :)

I have a 305, and yeah, it generally takes close to a minute to lock on. But if I'm driving somewhere nowadays, I just turn it on and put it on the dashboard; it's always locked on when I get where I'm going.

I've noticed that sometimes it can maintain contact with the satellites while inside. But not inside my house: I have a slate roof.

Have fun: it's a wonderful toy!

It certainly works even indoors - if you´re close enough to a window so the toy can "see" enough satellites even if it doesn´t have 360 "vision".
If it´s the first time you actually turned it on those 10 seconds sound astonishingly fast. Usually it can lock to the satellites quicker if you are in the same place as when you last turned it off.
The dashboard trick works well for me too - or just putting it beside me while tying the shoe-laces and getting ready to run.

It will lock on much quicker if stationary than moving on an arm. Put it on a window sill or dashboard or car roof while tying shoes works fine. And you're not watching the kettle boil.

I am sitting in a plane at 38,000 ft. would the 305 lock in satellites? it would be cool to plot my route across the country. Very cool to fly right by (within sight) no less than 12 maps. from WCOC land to Blue Mt. and then right thru the middle of Harriman and west point. I lost track of things near Ellenville NY (just beyond the gunks).

@Joe: flightaware.com shows the routing for all commercial flights under US air traffic control, and if you have internet access on board, you can track your flight (nearly) live - there is a few minutes delay sometimes for security reasons.

I suppose you will beat me to LA, given that I'm sitting still in Tucson for several more hours...
