GlenT: 21:08 at 82F and humid probably would be sub-20:00 at 55F (or 35F). Or does heat have no detrimental effect on your speed?

PBricker: Well, I think the heat probably cost me 10-15 seconds over the race 10 weeks ago; but a 5k isn't long enough for moderate heat to have a really detrimental effect on me. (90's and humid is another matter.) I have a lot of trouble with heat in longer races (including losing consciousness once in an 11.5 mile very hot summer road race and waking up packed in ice in the hospital): I can't keep myself hydrated at intensity 4-5 beyond about 45 minutes because I sweat profusely. As I like to say: my only DNF in a road or trail race, they had to carry me off on a stretcher.

Hope it's not too hot Sunday at Charlie's!

GlenT: Just stay under 45 minutes for Charlie's sprints and the heat shouldn't be an issue. :-) I'm not going to make it to Charlie's but hope to get in a run at the DVOA event at French Creek this weekend.
