It's been noted elsewhere that if you didn't move much it defaulted to Google headquarters for some reason (home of the maps, perhaps?).

Although when I rechecked maprunner's log today, the globe link shows up with "no map data stored with this session," which is as it should be.

This first made me think of The Wizard of Menlo Park, which may have been an appropriate desciption of PG´s orienteering capabilities (hadn´t he ended up in California when starting his training on the east coast).

Looking things up I found out that the wizard didn´t come from California at all but rather from New Jersey so maybe it wasn´t that bad orienteering after all ;)

right, it was Google maps defaulting to its HQ. that's what happens when you don't give a g-map any location. anyway, fixed.
