Did you know that, counting the model day, this year's edition of the Rocky Mountain 1000 Day features *12* straight days of orienteering? That's a record for Laramie*, Wyoming, Colorado, and--for that matter--anywhere within the known O' Universe.
* (With 6 sprint series races to be held this year, Laramie has become Sprint Capital of the known O' Universe.)
You may have some competition on that second point. I'm looking to put together a 10-race sprint series in St. Louis next year.
Holy crap! Did I die and go to heaven? You guys are my new heros!
Another fun fact: this year's 1000 Day (the US Classic Champs at Buena Vista, specifically) will feature the highest pinion pine-juniper forest you're ever likely to see or orienteer through. It's easy to run through, but visibility in some sections can be rather opaque--raising the technical challenge. It will be special!
