Ok you've mastered linear features. Start using point features as linear features. Use a line of hills/knolls as linear features is the best example. Basically simplify the check points and make them your linear features. Run from a hill to a marsh to a track bend to a hill, or something like that. It's a way of simplification. Hard to explain in text in AP but should at least make some sense.
Also try making your training as hard as you can. The more you challenge yourself in training, the easier a competition can feel. If you're at the starting line at a big race believing you have trained harder than the race is then you'll feel confidant that you can master the hard stuff and just breeze through the easy stuff.
