Hi orienteers

As the earlybird deadline is soon arriving, I encourage you to register for the Ottawa O'Week, August 15-22. There will be 4 fun events followed by the Canadian Championship middle, sprint and long distance events. All events have courses for everyone. If the course assigned to your age group is too long or difficult for you, select an Open course that is right for you. If this vast array of courses is confusing take a look at COC2010.ca/COC_events.shtml and read through to the bottom for full information. Whether you are a relatively new orienteer, an adventure runner exploring orienteering, or an experienced but slower runner - no problem, there will be something for you and we feel confident you will enjoy being part of this national event.

After June 15 prices increase. If you wish to enter but are also ready to help us put on this National event, you may want to wait to see how you will be helping and how it will affect your entry. If so, please fill in the volunteer form at ottawaoc.ca/volunteer.html which will let us know you are planning to enter but don't know yet which events you can enter and if you will need early or late start times.

There doesn't seem to be a contact address on the COC website. I have a question about the "Welcome BBQ hosted by Councillor Eli El-Chantiry to follow the middle" as there is no mention of it other than on the schedule page. Is it included in the price for that event? Can you get an answer or provide a contact address? Thanks!

Good question; assume that this BBQ is no additional cost to you and our other guests. Apparently, the councillor is looking after all our needs...except for blankets, chairs or tables. I checked my copy of the minutes taken at the most recent meeting of the COC organizing committee. See below.

"Arrangements for the barbecue after the Middle are coming along. Enbridge will supply the barbecue, Eli the food, cutlery etc and cooks. Tables will likely not be available. We should encourage people to bring blankets or chairs."
