Karen, Sandra and Sandy H-J are racing at Spring Cup this weekend (some other people will be there too - Charlotte and Adrian for example). The live tracking should be fun on Saturday. Good luck guys! Next spring I immagine there will be a whole pile of us over there.

I'm home and I survived! In hindsight I enjoyed the weekend, although a lot of things went wrong, but it was a good jump start to the season, and it has now motivated me for the next races. For details on my races, check out my training log.

I did run in a relay (incomplete team, no final result), look under Women’s Open relay: I ran for the club NOR-Kristiansand OK 2 (Sandy's club) number 257. I am listed under Linn Syvertsen. The whole story in my training log!

Congrats to Sandy H-J for a great weekend! 20th in the classic, and 4th in the relay! Really good season opener!

Spring Cup was a nice start of the 2005 international season. The event had participants from 26 nations and a total of 3800 starts at the night race, classic race and relay. The classic race was held in THE most challenging and interesting forests (Tisvilde Hegn) near Copenhagen, so I knew the key was to be fully concentrated. I enjoyed every moment of doing orienteering in this forest, and managed really well in the beginning (I was actually leading on the 5th control), but started to get several 20 seconds mistakes, and then a huge 3 minutes mistake in the green coastal forest and slipped back to 6th place in the M50A class. This year, the North Americans had the opportunity of combining Spring Cup in Denmark with the Jan Kjellstrom races in UK (Adrian and Charlotte from Calgary used this special opportunity).

In 2006, Spring Cup will be held March 24-26 (nearly 3 weeks before JK2006). The event sites are (with my subjective opinion on the terrains): Friday night event at Egedam (near Hillerød, very typical Spring Cup terrain, fast, good for night orienteering, I like it), Saturday Classic race at Gurresøskovene (interesting terrain, mainly very flat, a bit on the challenging side, the most interesting terrain during the 3 days), Sunday Relay at Store Dyrehave Syd (variable runnability, potential of making good quality courses, more challenging than the relay this year).

Overall, I am pleased with the selection of terrains for 2006. Hope to see more North Americans than at the 2005 Spring Cup.

Regards O-lav from Oslo, Norway who is celebrating my 10th Spring Cup participation this year, and I will be back next year.

Are there any links to maps? Also, from the winner's pictures it looks like they won some cash.

I'll be at next year's Spring Cup. Does anybody know when the WOC training camps are?

Maps with top 3 route choices from the Classic event were displayed at the event centre on Sunday. I have e-mailed the organizers and asked if they can scan and post these maps to the Spring Cup website.

The Spring Cup organizers answered me that the top 3 M21E & W21E route choices have been given to the editor of the o-magazin O-Sport for publication. After they have been published there, it is possible that they will be included on the Spring Cup website.

At the relay, the top 10 last runners carried equipment from TracTrac. Live positioning at the Spring Cup relay can be viewed at www.tractrac.dk . Enjoy it.
Regards O-lav
