ndobbs: just how damn good are you? or is your definition of spiking a bit looser than mine? i'm not saying you're not, just that my spiking ratio is a hell of a lot lower... maybe 60-80%. for me spiking is running a leg well and fast, knowing where the control will be, running in cleanly and knowing the way out. losing say 10-15 seconds max given the route choice and physical ability. hopefully I'll experience it again one of these weeks grrmmphh

ken: I think I've been running in easy terrain lately! (hard to miss park-o controls) mine is usually lower also (80-90%). if I can't remember any problems with a leg, especially approaching the control, I'll consider it a spike.

I don't usually require fast running or a pre-planned exit, and if there's low visibility, and I arrive where I think the control should be and it turns out it's 5m to the left or right, I'll usually still count that too, even though purists might object;-) I dont usually require perfect route choice either, but If I pick a particularly stupid one, then that might qualify as a miss.
