"More details will be posted on the Club website as the date gets a little closer."

Trying to make travel plans. I'm not finding anything on the website about the A-meet. Will info be posted soon?

Just closing the i tag.

You're so neat Cristina!

Cristina:
Perhaps. But the real motivation was that I started twitching when I saw the effects of the unclosed tag.

I really did try to fix it after I posted my message, but guess I wasn't savvy enough to get it right. :-)

Join us for "More O at Moreau!" October 16 and 17!

https://sites.google.com/site/2010uschampsclassic/

Registration is now open for the 2010 US Two-day Classic Championships at Moreau Lake State Park in New York, hosted by Empire Orienteering Club. The early registration deadline (best price) is September 11, with normal deadline of September 30. Late registrations will be accepted through October 9.

Some details are still being finalized (Board meeting location/time, dinner, t-shirts/souvenir items, etc.) and should be available in early August. Course notes and map information will be added later.

In addition, the US Orienteering Team has offered to organize a fund raiser sprint (or two) the afternoon before the US Champs at Saratoga Spa State Park, about 15 miles south of Moreau. And if you're attending the GLOF events in Hamilton, Ontario and have vacation time to spare, NY clubs in between are organizing other events (Niagara Falls on Tuesday, Rochester on Wednesday, and perhaps a surprise offering near Saratoga or Moreau on Thursday evening) to keep you entertained! See the "Oct-O-berfest!" sidebar on the website's Schedule page for dates and links.

Early registration deadline has been moved up to August 31.

Umm, why?

Why not?

Because I mightn't have a chequebook by then?

What's the story with waivers actually? Does one have to sign a waiver at every event, and if so, why not send one to the USOF for the entire year? Just curious :)
Aug 2, 2010 11:11 PM #
bct:
Usually the waiver includes the facility and sponsors specific to each event. A blanket USOF one wouldn't cover "New York State Parks", "the Clarkson farm" or "Doug's Shoes."

Was the original Sep 11 early bird date a typo?
Aug 3, 2010 3:11 AM #
JanetT:
Call it a misunderstanding.

That said, there's a refund policy stated on the website's registration page for those who do register early.
Aug 3, 2010 12:31 PM #
j-man:
Isn't a full month's enough notice to deal with a typo or misunderstanding or whatever? Sheesh.

GuyO:
Hey, j-man, please put the flamethrower down! I was just puzzled by the change...
Most of the time when entry deadlines change, they go in the other direction. :-)

The Locations page of the US Classic Champs site has been updated, adding a few more logistical details and an additional motel to consider besides the Event Center (Queensbury Hotel), which is home to Friday evening packet pickup (7-10 pm) and the Orienteering USA board meeting (Saturday afternoon, time TBA). Board members should request early starts. At this time, Saturday start window is 1100-1300; if needed it will expand earlier.

Dinner details are still being developed, but we hope to announce them soon.

Do we have any idea when the starts will be on Friday? As someone who isn't taking the whole week off to do GLOF and ROC (as much as I'd love to), I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it to the sprints in time. Any chance of a night sprint? =)
Aug 12, 2010 9:02 PM #
JanetT:
The current plan is to start around 2 but only run until 4 or so; we probably have to be out of the park by dusk. No night o.
Aug 12, 2010 9:03 PM #
JanetT:
And earlier starts may be possible/desirable.

Still no news on the Saturday dinner...

Added: Registrants from outside the US who want to pay before October may request a PayPal bill; note that a service charge of 3% of the total will be added. This allows you to not have to deal with bringing lots of cash to check-in. E-mail me if you have already registered; if you have not yet registered you can add this request in the Notes section of the online form.

Is there any idea of when the starts will be on Sunday yet? My parents are arriving in the country later that day, and I would like to have a rough idea of whether I can fit a race in before then! A rough estimate would be really helpful before the early closing date. Thanks!

I see that souvenir t-shirt and socks info has been added to the event website. I'm looking forward to getting a long-sleeve tech shirt!

Will the designs be posted?

Wow, socks! That's a nice and unique event souvenir. Too bad there isn't a knee-high option, haha.

Will the designs be posted?

I will only pre-order an event t-shirt if I can see what it looks like when I order it. The website says "burnt orange shirt with event logo", but I don't see anything that resembles an event logo on the website. As logo designs seem to be a hot-button topic here (see the ridiculous 400+ post thread...), I would think that a lot of other people might want to see the event logo before purchasing?

Rough estimate is 9 am as earliest (so far). I'm trying to confirm whether this is workable with the rest of the crew.

Will the designs be posted?

I'm working on getting the shirt logo from the designer.
