We lost about 20 minutes on that control. We hit the "watercourse" from the southeast but weren't sure whether we were upstream or downstream. I followed the unmarked track upstream and over a fallen log and as we found out later stopped about 10m short of the control ('twas hidden behind a bush from where I was standing) when Mark called out that he'd found a more distinct watercourse in the other direction so I turned around and we went about 500 metres back the other way. In the end we went back upstream to the point just beyond where I'd stopped originally and found the silly thing.

We came across Jim and Phil at this point and another team of old guys who'd claimed they hadn't found it upstream (also must have stopped just short) and advised them all of where it was.

It was....interesting. Maybe it looked better in daylight, but in the dark I couldn't see much of a watercourse. We found the track after going about 200m up the "watercourse" from the main road, then followed the track for what seemed like ages, with our torches aimed off to the right in the hope of spotting the flag.

I couldn't see any sign of an actual watercourse, and was getting close to suggesting we turn back and bash down the watercourse itself when it appeared right beside the track. One of those controls where I'd like to see a GPS trace.

Mark was bashing his way along the "watercourse" whilst I went for a gentle stroll along the track. He was going at the same pace as me.
